I’m Kaja Knowers, a contemporary glass artist and designer/maker based in Tallinn, Estonia. Half Estonian and half English, I spent the first 27 years of my life in London before relocating to reconnect with my roots and dive deeper into the world of glass.

My creative path hasn’t exactly followed the rulebook. I first earned a degree in Economics from a UK university in 2010, but it didn’t take long before glass took over. What started as a curiosity turned into a full-blown obsession and I’ve been shaping, stretching and experimenting with this extraordinary material ever since.

Now in the final year of my BA in Glass Art, I’m focused on the meeting point between traditional techniques, contemporary technology and the expressive power of light. My practice brings together hands-on product design, tactile experimentation and conceptual thinking. I work across blowing, casting, slumping and cold working to challenge what glass can be.
